Ikebana is the 6 centuries old art form of Japanese Floral Arranging. The Ohara School Of Ikebana, headquartered in Tokyo, was established in 1895, and more than 300,000 students from many nations follow a curriculum established by the School.
Derek Ju-Sen Kitchen holds the rank of Second Term Master with the Ohara School and offers private instruction and group classes in Ottawa, both in the studio in the Merivale / Meadowlands neighbourhood, or in a location of your chooing.
Dive Right In
We offer several introductory workshops for those with little or no experience in Ikebana. We also offer occasional seasonal workshops open to all.
Furthering your knowledge
For students who are pursuing certification through the Ohara School Tokyo, or for experienced students wishing to further develop their talents, the range of classes offered will encourage progress along the official Ohara curriculum

Celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the Ottawa Chapter of the Ohara School of Ikebana.
In September 2019, The Ottawa Chapter of the Ohara School hosted M. Marcel Vrignaud for a series of workshops and a gala demonstration. M. Vrignaud is a Grand Master of the Ohara School and author of the much lauded book "My Ikebana"
Ikebana at Jabberwocky
Jabberwocky was the setting for two Ikebana workshops in this unique space upstairs at Union Local 613 in downtown Ottawa. Refreshments and creativity flowed! Watch this space for future special events.
